It is confirmed that Ford will be releasing its newest midsize sedan the 2020 Ford Fiesta ST. Being introduced in New York Auto Show back in March, there are some redesign made to the car which is barely visible if we don’t analyze it thoughtfully. Ford claim that there will be more change made inside the car, but we barely recon this as there is no image of the interior yet. The biggest changes made to the 2020 version are the engine and the onboard technology.
The engine of the 2020 Ford Fiesta ST will remain the same as the previous model. It will continue offering the Fiesta ST between the Hybrid and the Energy variants. The S model, as the base trim will be using the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter I4 engine. The engine can produce 175 Horse Power and 175 pounds-feet of torque.
On the upper trim, the SE and the SEL model will receive the 1.5-liter Eco Boost engine which create about 181 Horse Power and 185 pounds-feet of torque. There is also the Titanium trim who offer more power with 2.0-liter turbo engine that deliver 245 Horse Power and 275 pounds-feet of torque. Last but not least, the best engine among all is the 2.7-liter V6 engine for the Fiesta ST Sport trim. This engine can generate up to 325 Horse Power and 380 lb.-feet of torque.
All the engine above will be using six-speed engine automatic transmission and available with standard All-Wheel-Drive to all trim. Ford claim that their newest engines have 20 percent tout improvement even though it is only increase the EPA-estimated EV by 4 miles from 21 miles before to 25 miles this time.
The overall look of the car won’t change much, even there are only slight change and some tweaks. The 2020 Ford Fiesta ST now available with new color pallets both for the exterior and interior. The most noticeable change for the car maybe the small redesign on the front fascia and slightly on the tail lamps.
Ford confirm there will be the Co-Pilot360 to the car which is the first car from Ford to get such technology. With the technology, there are new security system which includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot information, lane keeping system, rear camera and auto high-beam lightning. There will be also traffic-sign recognition, road-departure mitigation system and the adaptive cruise.
On the infotainment and navigation system, there is Ford+Alexa voice recognition software to control Voice Navigation. A 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot will also available alongside the 8-inch touchscreen with the latest SYNC 3 system.
As the car introduced in New York Auto Show couple months ago, it is a definitive that we can found the car at the showroom in 2020 around summer. The official price of the car hasn’t been revealed yet. However, seeing that the change is pretty minor 2020 Ford Fiesta ST won’t change much, in this case the base trim, S model will be offered at around $23.000 and it can go higher along with the trims.
